Beth Hrymak is from Homewood, Illinois and currently a sophomore at Illinois State University majoring in Human Resource Management. She is very much involved with Alpha Kappa Psi along with other organizations on campus as well. Beth is a brother of our fraternity since the Spring of 2016 and she currently holds the rush chair position. In addition to Alpha Kappa Psi, she is involved in the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) and she holds the position of sustainability chair in Watterson Area Government. After graduation, she hopes to live in Chicago and work for a company that has a great corporate culture and the ability to grow within.
We wanted to ask Beth a few questions regarding her time in Alpha Kappa Psi. Why did you decide to come out to rush Alpha Kappa Psi? Beth: I decided to come out to rush Alpha Kappa Psi because of the culture. During rush I really connected with all of the brothers and knew that being surrounded by people who were so driven would do nothing but motivate me do be better. How has Alpha Kappa Psi impacted you in college? Beth: Alpha Kappa Psi has had nothing but positive experiences for me. Not only have I learned the skills to grow and apply myself as a professional, but it has created dozens of friendships and opportunities for me. My collegiate career would be nowhere near as wonderful if it wasn’t for Alpha Kappa Psi. What is the best part about being in Alpha Kappa Psi? Beth: I think the best part about being in Alpha Kappa Psi is creating not only professional relationships, but personal ones as well. Being surrounded by a group of individuals who will contribute and support your professional success, as well as be a large part of your personal life is a rare but unique thing to have. Since you hold the position of rush chair, what suggestions do you have for someone who is interested in rushing this semester? Beth: Suggestions that I have for someone interested in rushing is to be yourself but take a step outside of your comfort zone. Challenging yourself is nothing but beneficial and getting involved gives you the opportunity to do so. If you are interested in taking the journey to becoming a brother of Alpha Kappa Psi, we hope to see you next week at our rush events. Meet our Chapter on Tuesday, January 31st in the Old Main Room of the Bone Student Center at 7:00 pm. We will have a social event on Wednesday, February 1st in McCormick Hall at 7:00 pm. Our final night of rush will conclude with a professional night where we will listen to a guest speaker and network with one another on Thursday, February 2nd in Room 366 of the State Farm Hall of Business at 7:00 pm.
