This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending the Principled Business Leadership Institute at the Palmer House Hotel in Chicago with 14 of my fellow brothers.
The event is centered around building industry related knowledge from real-life professionals, networking, and as the title states, leadership development. Each day features multiple activities, such as breakout sessions with current business leaders, a keynote speaker, and officer training. In between sessions, there is plenty of opportunity to gain insight from fellow brothers from other chapters to learn how they operate, and what ideas and functions of theirs your own chapter could incorporate. Of the many information sessions we were able to attend, one that stuck out to me primarily was focused on making a successful transition from school into a full-time career. The speaker, a weathered professional who has worked for multiple years within 2 of the big 4 professional service networks presented information that went far deeper than the surface level. His outlook on work ethic and professional expectations ignited a desire within me to put forth my best effort into my own professional development. In summary, the event provided an unforgettable professional experience, as well as a unique opportunity to further bond with brothers local and distant. Leaving PBLI, I feel like I have made a large step in the continuous process to grow professionally and I can’t wait to return next year.
