On September 26th Alpha Kappa Psi had a professional event with speaker, James E. Adams. We have speakers in various business fields speak with us regularly to develop our knowledge on different fields of interest for us to work in, as well as get tips and advice for us post-graduation.
Mr. Adams is currently a First Vice President and Investment Officer at Wells Fargo Advisors. He gave us insight into the start of his career as a financial planner. He was in the marines and said that that attributed to his success today. As a financial planner, he spoke about the importance of networking. You constantly have to be expanding your network in order to find new outlets for advising. He gave us the advice of carrying around business cards so you can hand them out to whomever you meet. In order to be successful as a financial planner, you have to be in the mindset of looking for new potential contacts 24/7. He is a first-hand case of how that mindset can lead to success based on his upward movement within Wells Fargo Advisors. Another topic that he spoke with us about was post-graduation financial planning.
Alpha Kappa Psi’s Xi Psi chapter has 32 members graduating in the Spring Semester. We will be in need of financial planning advice, and we are fortunate to have James E. Adams as a contact in the future.
