Chapter advisors

Terry Lowe

Terry Lowe received both a BS in Business Administration and an MBA from Illinois State University. He was employed by State Farm Insurance Companies for over 20 years and retired as Manager-Learning and Development.

He has been an advisor for the Xi-Psi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi since the first class was initiated in 2010. He agreed to be an advisor because Alpha Kappa Psi has had a very rich history and he wanted to be apart of that at Illinois State University.

He considers this service an opportunity to be a very important adjunct to his teaching activities on campus.  He is forever inspired by the professionalism and enthusiasm of all members in Alpha Kappa Psi.
I have been so impressed at all of the very successful brothers who go on and do amazing things as a result of being a part of this organization.

Rachel Birkey

Rachel Birkey was a graduate student at Illinois State University before she became a faculty member. She has been a part of the faculty since fall of 2010. She teachers three different tax courses offered in the Department of Accounting and Business Information Systems.

She has been an advisor for the Xi-Psi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi since the Spring of 2018.  One of her students asked her if she would like to become involved with the Fraternity.

She likes the idea of being able to get know all types of students from every major both in and out of the College of Business.

I really enjoy getting to know my students, but because I teach mostly upper level accounting courses, I rarely have students outside of accounting (and sometimes finance) in my classes

Tice Sirmans

Tice Sirmans joined the FIL Department as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2018. She teaches insurance courses in the Risk Management and Insurance Program in the Department of Finance, Insurance, and Law.

She has been an advisor for the Xi-Chapter since Spring of 2019.

She believes that RSO involvement is important during your college career and advises all her students to get involved in some way.
I believe extra-curricular activities are important for students and while I enjoy instructing and advising students on their careers, I also wanted to get involved in helping students develop professionally outside of the classroom

Margaret Haden

Margaret Haden graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Marketing, a secondary major in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences, and a minor in Agricultural Economics. In 2019, she earned my M.S. in Data Science from Utica College.

She is currently the Customer Insights Analyst for Kaplan North America and the Director of Data and People Engagement for a startup, On The Curb, Inc.

She has been an advisor for the Xi-Chapter since the Summer of 2020. But was previously in the Alpha Kappa Psi chapter at Kansas State University.
AKPsi presented me with a multitude of opportunities to lead, learn, and grow. Returning to the fraternity as a Chapter Advisor provides me these opportunities at a new level.
