When I rushed AKPsi, I was a 19 year old with passion that I wasn’t applying in the right way. I was blessed to make it through the rush process and become a pledge. I started learning about what it really meant to be professional and most importantly, apply my passions. I learned the most by sitting down with active members and learning about what they do and how they do it. There were so many different people pursuing their passion and I wanted to be just like them. I remember talking with a senior and I asked for advice on how to really do what I wanted to do. Their response was, “Just get out there and do it! Learn from your mistakes, that’s where you learn the most.” I thought about it for a while and realized I needed to do whatever I could to learn and take on opportunities.
I picked up a camera during pledging and wanted to photograph live music. Fast forward a few months, I had the chance the photograph three music festivals and a handful of concerts. This was all because I took one of the brother’s advice and just went for it. Without the conversations I had with AKPsi brothers, I would not be where I am at today. Those opportunities led to much more than just photographing live music. Since then, I’ve started managing three different artists and using what I’ve learned through AKPsi and applied it to the music industry. The moral of the story is to follow your passions. We only have one life to live and if you aren’t doing what you love, why are you doing it? If I never followed my passions, I would not be as happy as I am today. Without the brothers of AKPsi, I would not have been pushed to pursue my dreams!
