![]() Throughout the semester, the brothers at Alpha Kappa Psi have been fortunate enough to be able to work concession stands of events at Red Bird Arena for fundraising purposes. These events not only bring in necessary funds for the fraternity, but they also provide the brothers with an energetic bonding experience, that always leaves everyone laughing and having a good time. Normally these events are basketball games, however on Friday, April 11th, the Gamma Phi Circus was in town! What does working the concession stands consist of? Although the circus started at 7pm, brothers reported to Red Bird Arena just after 5pm, giving themselves plenty of time to prepare the concession stand. Food needed to be prepped, cash registers prepared, floors swept, and counters wiped. Once everything was prepared, eager customers formed long lines throughout the night, creating quite a frenzy behind the counter. Luckily, the brothers handled the chaos extraordinarily, noticeably displaying their teamwork and brotherhood. Why concession stands? Working these concession stands has been a staple of Alpha Kappa Psi fundraising at Illinois State over the past few years. The financial benefits are clear, but the ability to interact with the community, as well as create a bonding experience for brothers, is really what sets these events apart!
