Today, our newest addition to Rush Week, a service event, allowed Rushees to give some of their time and volunteer alongside actives. The goal was to give Rushees an idea of how we support our core value of service as well as an alternative setting for getting to know some of the active members. Our first service event was inspired by our monthly Adopt-A-Street program with the town of Normal where brothers clean up a section of Willow Avenue. Despite high humidity and even higher temperatures, 16 Rushees and 6 Actives came out to help clean up 2 miles of the scenic Constitution Trail. To all those who volunteered, thank you for your help and upbeat attitudes! With such a dedicated group, the event was an absolute success! An assortment of wrappers, cans, bottles and most surprisingly, a pair of slippers, were collected to help keep Constitution Trail looking pristine. We hope to continue offering service events at future Rush Weeks.
