I am often asked, “What exactly does Alpha Kappa Psi have to offer?” and along with the multitude of opportunities, a great answer to this question is PBLI. For those of you that do not know, PBLI stands for Principled Business Leadership Institute. This is an event where chapters from all throughout the Midwest, and even the country, meet to network. We also learn about the development of the fraternity, and engage in a variety of workshops to further both our professional and leadership attributes.
I had the opportunity to attend PBLI this past February, and one of the most noticeable themes that I picked up on is the sense of brotherhood that exists within Alpha Kappa Psi. From the minute we all first gathered in that large ballroom for our first meeting, I could sense an enthusiastic atmosphere of individuals all brought together to learn and grow from one another. Whether it was during the workshops or at social gatherings outside of the institute, brothers were excited to meet each other and get connected. I don’t think I have ever been asked so many times in my life to connect with people on LinkedIn! One of my favorite and perhaps most beneficial events I went to was the idea lab. Here, I was able to sit down and converse with brothers from all across the country on a variety of topics that occur within the fraternity. I was inspired after learning about the various programs and events that each chapter has implemented. The conversations also sparked numerous ideas to take back to my own chapter. Being able to bring so many diverse ideas and groups of people together helped to breed innovation and success that I believe everyone benefitted from. Overall, PBLI was an invaluable experience that I hope all present, and future, AKPsi members are able to attend.
