Target Case Competition 2017
On March 24th, 2017, Alpha Kappa Psi hosted their sixth annual Target Case Competition at the State Farm Hall of Business. Teams were presented with a real problem that Target is currently facing today and were challenged to create a solution. It was a huge success with a total of 15 teams that came out to participate this year, including two teams consisting of our Alpha Kappa Psi brothers from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Teams ranging from 1-4 members had five hours to work together on a solution before presenting their solution to Target Executives and College of Business faculty. In this year’s case completion, Target needed help with improving their current retail app, Cartwheel, to engage team members and improve guest experience.
1st place - The GOATS (Greatest. Of. All. Time): Hunter DeFrees, Ben Justice, Ivan Korkes, and Mason Nelson
2nd place - Team Delta Sigma Pi: Emily Scarlett and Matt Porter
3rd place - Menn in Black: Mariah Dowell, Natalie Fiala, Nick Lesley, Erin Myatt
Members of Alpha Kappa Psi placed 1st and 3rd place. The Target Case Competition was a great real world experience that challenged students to critically think about a problem in order to come up with a solution.
