The Xi-Psi chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi was founded on April 10th, 2010 on the principles of promoting institutions of business education, developing future leaders and fostering appreciation for higher ideals in business. 

 The brothers of  the Xi-Psi chapter represent the most ambitious and elite business students of the university. Through exposure to industry professionals, community service initiatives, and exclusive social events, members receive the most well-rounded college experience. Brothers have gone on to obtain positions in Fortune 500 companies, form start-ups, obtain a $250,000 deal from Mark Cuban on NBC's Shark Tank, be on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list, travel the world, and so much more.

The Xi-Psi chapter is guided by five core values, Alpha Kappa Psi focuses on providing ethical leadership and professional development. Through educational programs, community service and a hands-on application of formal education, Alpha Kappa Psi students use the business skills they are taught in the classroom to acquire life skills such as the art of compromise, consensus building, project management, interviewing, and networking.

Meet the Xi-Psi Chapter Advisors

  • Terry Lowe

    Terry Lowe received both a BS in Business Administration and an MBA from Illinois State University. He was employed by State Farm Insurance Companies for over 20 years and retired as Manager-Learning and Development. He has been an advisor for the Xi-Psi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi since the first class was initiated in 2010. He agreed to be an advisor because Alpha Kappa Psi has had a very rich history and he wanted to be apart of that at Illinois State University. He considers this service an opportunity to be a very important adjunct to his teaching activities on campus.  He is forever inspired by the professionalism and enthusiasm of all members in Alpha Kappa Psi.

  • Tice Sirmans

    Tice Sirmans joined the FIL Department as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2018. She teaches insurance courses in the Risk Management and Insurance Program in the Department of Finance, Insurance, and Law. She has been an advisor for the Xi-Chapter since Spring of 2019. She believes that RSO involvement is important during your college career and advises all her students to get involved in some way.

  • Thomas Tran

    Thomas is currently serving as an interim advisor for the Xi-Psi Chapter. Thomas began his journey with Alpha Kappa Psi as a brother at the Gamma Epsilon chapter at Penn State. He then went to become a chapter advisor and continued to climb the ladder at Alpha Kappa Psi. From August 2019 - August 2022, Thomas served as Alpha Kappa Psi’s fraternity president. Thomas has been giving back to Alpha Kappa Psi across the nation for 13+ years and still continuing to do so.
